IDEAL SPORT remains committed to continuously strengthening its knowledge and applying international standards in sport, with the aim of creating a safer and more responsible sporting environment.
As part of the United Nations Global Programme on Security of Major Sporting Events, and Promotion of Sport and Its Values as a Tool to Prevent Violent Extremism (Global Sports Programme), IDEAL SPORT has successfully completed the “Prevention of Violent Extremism through Sport” training course.
The Programme is led by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and is delivered in partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), and the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), in collaboration with a number of international partners.
This global initiative aims to support countries, sports organizations, and communities in protecting major sporting events against security threats, preventing the misuse of sport for extremist purposes, and harnessing the power of sport to strengthen social cohesion, promote peace, encourage inclusion, and build resilience against violent extremism.
The training covers contemporary international policies, recommendations, and best practices on using sport as a tool to promote respect, equality, inclusion, youth engagement, and resilient communities, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Through continuous professional development and by keeping pace with the latest international standards, IDEAL SPORT reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the development of a positive, safe, and responsible sporting culture based on the universal values of sport, respect, solidarity, and peace.
